Isn't This Interesting?

Isn't This Interesting?

After spending two weeks at our Youth Camps, I’m putting together some conversation threads about our post-pandemic progress in Student Ministry. Stay tuned.

  1.   We are still fluid. Fluid was my reactionary word of choice during the worst stages of the pandemic. Remaining fluid will stretch your Student Ministry IQ. You will become better and hopefully, your ministry will become stronger. Striving to be fluid will keep you from getting stuck in normal for the long haul.

  2. If you don’t try anything you will fail. There is still room in the current church environment to experiment so bring your leadership together and develop some short-term vision strategies.

  3. If you try something new, think about a shorter term. This is difficult because consistent and healthy ministries have a plan. A consistent plan of calendar dates where families can plan ahead with their schedules and resources.

We are still early in this recovery and any new thing you try carries a higher risk than before. Shorter-term calendars and immediate feedback and evaluation will track better during these interesting times.

Done well you will find new programming ideas that might fit your ministry scope once things are less interesting and more normal.

  4. Don’t settle for normal. This should go without saying in Student Ministry. This is a good time to evaluate vision and strategy. If you have returned to meeting, you should have a body of statistical feedback that will help you revision the future.

  5. Start thinking about your fall launch now. The fall semester is your best opportunity to establish your outreach strategy in your Student Ministry.

We will soon forget what the last normal was like. Seize the opportunity now to create a stronger future.
