Your Space Speaks Before You Do

Your Space Speaks Before You Do

When it comes to your Youth Ministry space, not all are created equal. The equalizer is the creativity and purpose behind your space.

Don’t settle. Strive for more.

Here are a few reasons space is important.

  1. Teaching starts the moment the first student arrives. If everything looks the same from week to week it is easy for students to disengage until something else captures their attention. Brainstorm with your team different ways to create engagement.

  2. A consistently creative space will help you avoid being a solo Youth Ministry leader. Creativity thrives with the input of others. Develop a leadership role for students and adults where you can push the boundaries of creativity.

  3. Get rid of stuff in your space. If something in your space isn’t being used, remove it. Getting things out of the way will not only open up your space but fuel your creativity. Students will notice. Removing clutter is one more way for you to focus your student’s attention where you want it.

  4. Rearrange your chairs/tables/set up. This simple step will help students feel like something different is going on.

  5. When you prepare your next lesson, start with visualizing your room and brainstorm with your teams ways to reinforce the teaching.

  6. Keep the conversation going with your team. It will become easier and more natural.
